What I Can Offer
I am supportive, honest, and nonjudgmental. I offer a safe, quiet environment to share details that may be difficult to discuss. Each of us, hold the necessary tools required to find peace within ourselves and with others. My job is not to change you, but to offer support, encouragement and guidance though active listening and collaboration. My main focus areas are working with couples struggling to communicate and various relationship conflicts. I guess you could say, I have a niche with helping couples to communicate their differences in opinion and most of my client base is through word of mouth. In addition to couples work, I work with common stressors in work and life such as anxiety, self-esteem, stress management and organizational skills.
Therapeutic techniques may include solution focused, CBT, ACT, Gottman and EFT. Through these lenses, we will highlight strengths, look for exceptions to the problems occurring, identify the connections between thoughts, feelings and actions, acceptance, and create a new plan to reach desired goals.
I look forward to guiding you on your journey to re-establishing balance, clarity and overall happiness!

My Story
Welcome! My name is Amy and I am a wife to my husband of 17 years and a mother of 2, ages 12 and 10. I have 4 degrees as I love to learn. I have a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies (Education, Sociology and Psychology), a BS in Elementary Education (1st-6th), a MS in Early Childhood Education (Birth-3rd grade and Specialized Reading intervention) and a MMFT as a Marriage and Family Therapist.
Prior to becoming a couples therapist, I have taught for the past 21 years in low-income schools teaching reading and math as an interventionalist and continue to do so . What can I say? I love their little faces and the joy they bring. I found that most of the children I was working with needed help in other areas outside of education within the family support system. Hence, what led me to my current career field (and my husband of course, but that’s a discussion for another time;). I love that I can help parents and/or couples communicate better to put their children’s needs first, making an overall happier home. In addition, I help individuals as well, which is very much a part of the whole. I am grateful to those who have trusted and continue to trust me with the sensitive tidbits which allows me to offer guidance in navigating difficult situations. Life is too short to waste it miserable and unhappy.
Insurance

I don’t take insurance at this time.
